Dr Michael Burling is an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at St George Private hospital with an interest in treating gynaecological cancers. This includes cancers of the ovary, uterus, cervix, vulva, and vagina.
He is a qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). Michael is also a Certified Gynaecological Oncologist (CGO).
He holds a research fellowship at the National Health Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) Clinical Trial Centre at the University of Sydney, where he is involved in trials on gynaecological malignancies.
Michael has a high level of expertise in the assessment and management of all gynaecological conditions, including cancers and pre-cancers.
Michael speaks fluent English and Tongan and has worked extensively across Australia, New Zealand and Tonga.
Interests include:
- Colposcopy for management of abnormal cervical screening tests and pre-invasive disease
- Minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery for both benign gynaecological conditions (eg: fibroids and ovarian masses) and gynaecological cancers.
- Open surgery for gynaecological cancers and other complex pelvic surgery.
