St George Private Hospital unveiled its multi-million dollar redevelopment this month, adding 35 new beds to the 280 bed facility; a new CCU renovation, a dedicated new oncology ward and three ultra-modern theatres.

A new multi-storey car park, a new café and a new Day Surgery along with the latest Da Vinci Xi Robot and 3D O-arm (which provides surgeons with 3D imaging during surgery) are all part of the hospital's $38m facelift.

St George Private Hospital is currently Australia’s highest volume bariatric hospital and  the nation’s first internationally recognised “Centre for Metabolic and Bariatric Excellence”, as recognised by the Surgical Review Corporation which accredits centres of excellence around the world.

The renovations include 10 new beds to the bariatric unit, in line with the growing demand for bariatric surgery – which has increased 10-fold in the past two decades.
