A/Prof is a Neurosurgeon with an interest in Complex Spine Surgery, Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery, Pituitary Surgery and Neuro Oncology.

Dr Davies completed his undergraduate medical degree at the UNSW in 1986.  He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1994, having trained at Prince Henry / Prince of Wales Hospitals, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and St Vincents Hospital.  In 1995 he worked in Little Rock Arkansas, obtaining a subspecialty fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery, and the following year completed a second fellowship in Neurovascular surgery at the University of Toronto, Toronto Western Hospital. Dr Davies has a mixed Public and Private practice in Sydney with appointments at St George Public and Private Hospitals, Prince of Wales Hospital, Sutherland Hospital, and Sydney Childrens Hospital.

Dr Davies holds a Master of Laws (with distinction) in Medical Law and Ethics from the University of Edinburgh.  Dr Davies has subspecialty interests in complex Spine and Neurovascular surgery. He is the Head of the Dept of Neurosurgery at St George Hospital and Deputy Chair of the St George Hospital Clinical Council.  He is a Conjoint Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of NSW. He is a Past President of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia.  Dr Davies is the current Chairman of the Surgical Education and Training Board in Neurosurgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Neurosurgical Society of Australasia.  He is Chairman of the Post Fellowship Education and Training Committee of the Society. Doctor Davies has published numerous peer reviewed journal articles and presented at national and international meetings.  He has been the convenor of several national workshops, and Neurosurgical Scientific Meetings. In 2018 he received an Order of Australia Medal for services to Medicine, in particular Neurosurgery.
