St George Private Hospital History
An amalgamation of Pacific Private, Bexley Private and Kogarah Private Hospitals, St George Private Hospital opened on the 1 November 1995 and recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. Co-located with the UNSW affiliated St George Hospital, the campus offers a strong Community focus in the St George, Hurstville, Rockdale and Sutherland Shires.
Over its first decade, SGPH is one of South Sydney’s largest and most comprehensive facilities boasting 205 beds, 11 operating theatres, a 10 bed ICU, 8 bed Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Catheter Lab, Oncology Day Centre, Obstetric Unit and a 20 bed Day Surgery, as well as a wide range of diagnostic and support services.
The Hospital is regarded as one of Australia’s most prestigious hospitals, serving approximately 31,000 patients each year.
In recent years the hospital added its eleventh theatre and plans further expansion and refurbishment to ensure it remains a market leader.
