Your Stay at St George Private Hospital

For your comfort and convenience St George Private Hospital offers a variety of services for your comfort.

Accommodation:

The Hospital offers a high standard of accommodation with both single and shared rooms available, all with ensuite bathrooms. Each room has a remote control entertainment system with television, movies and radio access, as well as a direct dial telephone line to and from your room for personal calls. Every effort is made to accommodate you in the room of your choice.

Mobile phones

When you are admitted please ask our staff if mobiles can be used in your room. Mobiles may be used in all public areas including the coffee shop. St George Private Hospital does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to your mobile phone.

Telephones:

Please ask your nurse on admission for details of your direct dial phone number. Local calls made from your room phone are free of charge, however a fee will be incurred for mobile, long distance and STD calls on discharge.

Internet

Internet access is available using the WiFi@Ramsay service.

Nurse Call System:

Should you require anything at any time, please do not hesitate to call the nursing staff via the button located on the bedside handset. Our staff will endeavour to answer your call as quickly a possible.

Dining at St George Private Hospital:

As a patient, you will receive fresh, innovative and nutritious meals prepared daily by our onsite chefs. Each morning you will receive a menu from which you may select meals according to your taste and dietary requirements. Consultant dieticians are also available to provide assistance with special dietary requirements. If you have any concerns with your meals during your stay, please ask your nurse to contact the Catering Manager, who will be happy to meet with you and discuss your requirements further.

A special children's menu is available to cater for the needs of our littlest patients.

Café:

Located in the main foyer the new St George Private cafe offers a range of hot and cold beverages, meals, sandwiches, cakes and salads. Opening hours are between 7:30am and 6:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Mail/Fax:

Patients can send and receive mail and faxes via the hospital's main fax number 02 9598 5555. Please ensure the patient's name, ward and room number are clearly stated. Stamps can be purchased from the Pharmacy. Any mail received after you leave will be forwarded to your home address.

Pharmacy:

The pharmacy is located in the foyer of the Hospital and has a range of toiletries, gifts and cards as well as medicinal items.

Newspapers & Magazines:

Newspapers and Magazines can be purchased from the Pharmacy in the hospital's main foyer area. Please check with the nursing staff should you require this service on weekends, as the Pharmacy is not open during this time.

Laundry:

The hospital does not provide a personal laundry service. Please make your own arrangements with the help of family or friends. If this is not possible, please ask your nurse about alternatives.

Interpreters:

An Interpreter service can be arranged if necessary. Please discuss this requirement with your nurse.

Children:

We are committed to providing flexible and family friendly care to the littlest of our patients. We recognise that any period of hospitalisation can be stressful for all concerned and our aim is to provide a safe yet family oriented environment.

We encourage parents to bring with them their child's favourite toys or bedding to help alleviate any anxiety they may be feeling. Overnight accommodation is available to stay with your child.

ATM:

For your convenience, there is an ATM machine in the foyer.

Religious Visits:

A range of chaplaincy services are available on request to offer emotional and spiritual support to patients and families.

Smoking:

St George Private Hospital is a smoke free campus.

Visiting Hours:

  • General wards 10am - noon, 3 - 8pm
  • Maternity 3 - 5pm, 7 - 8pm. Fathers or partners are welcome to visit anytime
  • Coronary Care Unit- by arrangement with nursing staff
  • Intensive Care Unit- by arrangement with nursing staff

Access to your medical record

You can access to your medical record for a nominal fee with an application in writing. Please ring 02 8566 0309 for further information.

Electrical Equipment & Devices

All electrical equipment that is to be used whilst you are in Hospital, must be tested and approved prior to use. For your own safety we recommended that you bring only essential equipment with you into Hospital (eg CPAP machine). However, in the event that you do need to bring electrical equipment with you, we ask that you liaise with your nurse for your device to be checked.

Under no circumstances should you use electrical equipment in the bathroom.
